Russell Ira Johnson

Russell Ira Johnson, 86, of Gallipolis, Ohio died on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at his daughter’s, Nancy Taylor, residence. He was born on September 28, 1920 in Gallia County, Ohio to Edward Johnson and Ella Cox Johnson. He was a self-employed house demolisher and an US Army Veteran. Russell was married to Flossie E. White Johnson and she preceded him in death on October 18, 1986. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Taylor of Gallipolis, and Brenda Everett Jones of Middleport, OH; three sons, Ronnie Norma Johnson of Gallipolis, Roger Donna Johnson of Rio Grande, and Richard Peggy Johnson of Gallipolis; 12 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; one sister Hazel Coughenour of Gallipolis. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Russell Johnson, Jr., a daughter Cathy Diane Johnson in infancy, one grandson, Roger Johnson, Jr., and a granddaughter Cathy Taylor Hall; and by five brothers, Charlie, Carlan, Lester, Johnny and James Johnson. Services will be 1 PM Thursday, January 4, 2006 at Willis Funeral Home, with Rev. Truman Johnson, burial will follow in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 am to till the time of the service at the funeral home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
